The event begins at 9:00 AM when 50 selected artists will create fine art paintings of the scenic village and countryside of Millbrook, in Eastern Dutchess County, on the day of this event. The public is invited to look over the shoulders of the artists (anytime after 10am) as they create exclusive paintings all over town that will be auctioned off later that night.
At 4:00 PM the public is invited to a Preview Reception, with hearty
hors d 'oeuvres & wine. This is followed at 5:30 PM with a Live Auction. The reception and auction will be hosted at The Fountains at Millbrook at 79 Flint Road, Millbrook, NY 12545. This is the site of the old Greer School and a very short drive from the center of Millbrook. The featured Auctioneer will be Robert Doyle of United Country Absolute Auction & Realty in Pleasant Valley, NY.
"There is something magical about seeing professional artists create these paintings and then bidding on one to take home forever" says Barrett Art Center Executive Director. "Any painting means so much more when you've met the artist and know exactly were he or she was standing when it was painted."
The signature artwork for this year's auction will be "Play Time" by Millbrook artist and gallery owner Jack Neubauer. This 16" x 20" oil painting is featured in all the publicity for the event and it will also be auctioned off that night.
This is a charity art auction. Proceeds benefit the educational programs of the Barrett School of Art, at Barrett Art Center, and Barrett Clay Works.
