for the Barrett Art Center’s Annual Spring Paint-Out & Art Auction!
The Barrett Art Center/Dutchess County Art Association of Poughkeepsie, NY will be hosting their Annual Spring Paint-Out & Art Auction on Saturday, June 13th, 2009 at Lathrop Center at Lakeside Park in the beautiful Dutchess County community of Pawling, NY. The BAC’s Annual Spring Paint-Out is an onsite, public day of artistic creation and appreciation. On June 13th, forty professional artists will paint countryside views and street scenes in and around Pawling. The newly created works will be auctioned off the same evening. Featured artists from previous paint-outs include Robert Abele, Margaret Crenson, Gary Fifer, Keith Gunderson, Betsy Jacaruso, Nestor Madalengoita, Seth Nadel, Linda Puiatti, Robert Schneider and many other popular painters, watercolorists and pastel artists. Illustrator Michael Garland will also be participating this year.
Artists will check-in at the auction site in the morning, paint from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm, and then return in the afternoon with their finished works for a preview and viewing. There will be a special viewing for paddle holders from 4:30- 5:15pm. The general preview and reception will be held from 5:15-6:00pm. The auction viewings will be followed by a live auction from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Artists are given the opportunity to enter two works in the auction, one work must be created on the auction day the other entry can be a previously completed work. Auctioneer Kymara Lonergan will keep the event entertaining and enjoyable for people of all ages. Over eighty works of art will be on display and auctioned off in about two hours. The live auction will start promptly at 6:00pm.
The Barrett Art Center is thrilled that the picturesque village of Pawling, NY has agreed to host this professional paint-out. Pawling is located only about 60 miles north of New York City off Route 22. It is accessible by train from New York City on the Hudson-Harlem Line. The Village of Pawling’s downtown features historic architecture, and the surrounding countryside offers rolling foothills of the Berkshire’s, the Appalachian Trail, the Great Swamp (one of New York State’s largest wetlands), and parkland and Nature Conservancy properties. The Lathrop Center is located in Lakeside Park, a beautiful location in itself with a spring-fed lake and sprawling vistas. For more information about the area please visit www.pawlingchamber.org.
