Holiday Giving 2017
Trees for Tom

Rudy Vavra began creating painted holiday tree cards in 2004, which he and his wife, Jenny Cook, sent to friends and family. The recipients soon started collecting the cards, inspiring Vavra to create large format tree paintings. These paintings were the subject of a 2015 show in Lakeville, CT, and this year, Vavra began making prints as well. Vavra’s work is shown and collected nationally and can be seen at:

"Trees for Tom" in the News

Celebrate the giving season and support Barrett Art Center’s preservation of our landmark building, the heart of our visual arts programs in Poughkeepsie and the Hudson Valley.

This holiday season, we honor the vision of Thomas W. Barrett, Jr., founder of the Dutchess County Art Association (known today as Barrett Art Center), with Trees for Tom, limited edition prints (8½” x 11”) for just $45 each.

Proceeds from sales will be used toward a required partial match to an $11,600 Preserve New York grant from the Preservation League of New York State and the New York State Council on the Arts.

Order your prints early and  make Trees for Tom part of your holiday giving.
Every Tree you give is also a gift to Barrett.

Trees for Tom have been donated by Hudson Valley artist and DCAA Board Member Rudy Vavra and are exclusive to Barrett Art Center.

Printed in an edition of only 100 on Hahnemuhle 285gsm paper, each tree is adorned with a gold star hand-painted by Vavra.

Each Tree for Tom will help us reach our required grant match of $3,500 by year’s end.

Trees for Tom are perfect for framing and make thoughtful holiday gifts.
